Happy Pride Month you guys! We are getting well into June, which also means we are getting into the month of pride.
What is pride month?
Simply put, it’s a month to celebrate the LGBTQA+ community and the impact the community has had over the years. Along with pride month comes many pride parades and events all over the world.
What’s a pride parade?

Pride parades, events, and festivals are events celebrating LGTBQA+ social and self-acceptance; achievements; legal rights; and pride (definition from wikipedia). In my own words, it’s a great place where people can come together (people in the community and allies of the community) and just celebrate people being who they are.
So, what makes pride parades so amazing?
I’ve sadly never been to a pride parade but I really want to go one day and experience togetherness that happens there. If the celebration of the community alone doesn’t make it seem so amazing, then just look at the history of how pride month began. If you didn’t know (which I just learned myself) it started June 28, 1969, when the LGBT community began a riot due to police raiding the Stonewall Inn, which is a gay bar. There’s of course more to the story, but this is the short version. If you’d like to learn more about it and the start of Pride month, I highly suggest looking it up!
Pride parades are so amazing because they celebrate such a significant moment in history that I don’t think many people may talk about or something you won’t see in history books (they sure weren’t in mine). They’re a place to be free without judgment or ridicule together in unity and to me, that’s the most amazing thing of all.
