My Updated Skincare Routine 2020

Hello loves! I hope you all are doing your best to keep up with your skincare routine (if you have one) or just taking care of your skin in general. I’ve been seeing a lot of people saying that this quarantine has their skin going haywire. I’d have to say that I’m part of that group as well.

Now, I can admit that I’m not the best at taking care of my skin. I know, I know…that’s terrible, but I’ve been doing better for the most part. I found some different products that I’ve used fairly consistently for over a month. I decided that since I’ve been using these enough to say I have somewhat of a routine going, that I would show you guys what my current routine is looking like. I do have a 2019 mini skincare routine if you’d like to read that post as well!

Step 1: Cleanse face

The first thing I do of course is clean my face. The products in this step are mostly the same from my 2019 routine. If It’s the end of the day and I have makeup on, then I’ll use these Neutrogena face wipes (pictured bottom) to wipe my makeup up off. If not, then I’ll get straight into cleaning my face.

I still use a spin brush to cleanse my face, but I did change the brand I use. Now I use the Vivitar facial power brush (pictured right). I really like it and I love that it has a cover to go over the spin brush and comes with a travel case. I also still pair it with raw African black soap(pictured left). I love the black soap and have yet to find a reason to stop using it.

Step 2: Nourishing facial oil

After cleansing my face, I need to get the moisture back. This is where I start to add in new products. One day my friend and I went to Tj Maxx and I decided to look for some skincare products because I wanted to do better. Listen, if you’ve never gotten facial products from Tj Maxx, then I highly recommend! They have so many products and they’re all so inexpensive!

There is where I found this beauty. This is the Pearlessence Argan and Vitamin E oil. I am loving it! My face feels so smooth after using it. I love that it has a dropper too. It makes it so much easier to apply. I just put a few drops on my face and rub it in. I do try to wait a minute before going to the next step just to let it sink it.

Step 3: Face moisturizer

Lastly, after letting the oil absorb for a minute or two, I put on a face moisturizer. Along with the face oil, I found this beauty at Tj Maxx as well. This is the Skin Therapist day and night Hydraboost face cream (a mouthful I know). This cream has a mix of so many great products like Jojoba oil, Aloe vera, and Hyaluronic Acid. With the combination of this face cream and the oil, my face always feels nice and moisturized! If I ever plan on wearing makeup that day, then I give it time to absorb in my skin to help my face look even more flawless when I put my makeup on.

My skincare routine is super short, but not everyone needs a lot of products in their routine. Sometimes it just takes a few two or three products. Have you guys tried any of these products?

What’s a skincare product that’s a staple in your routine?

  1. Great post! 😊 I must admit I’m not the best with skincare either haha, I definitely want to try a spin brush at some point and I definitely wanna work on my skincare once this is all over and I can get into shops and really look at new products

    • Great read. I definitely practice good skin care routine. Currently I’m using 6 products from Urbanskin RX. For the most part they are working well for me. I’ll be going to a vegan brand next.

      • I’ve heard of them actually. If you find a good vegan brand then let me know for sure! I wouldn’t mind trying out some vegan products as well. Thanks for reading and commenting ♥

    • I love spin brushes. I just feel like I get a deeper clean from them for sure. Hopefully you’ll be able to do that soon! Thanks for reading and commenting ♥

  2. Great tips. It’s nice to see what everyone else does. One thy in hi haven’t try is the African black soap. Which I will have to as I do use Shea butter from time to time on my face. Right now I’m getting breakouts and it’s annoying. But also realised that water is key too.!

    • I love African black soap! There are some different reviews but it works pretty well for me. I used to use shea butter on my face until I realized that it didn’t really do anything for me. It mostly just made my face look shiny. Yes, water is absolutely key! Thanks for reading and commenting ♥

  3. I have a short skincare routine too, and I’m not the best with skincare. I’ve been wanting to try a spin brush. They seem like a nifty beauty tool. Shea butter is something I’m obsessed with I use on my skin and in my hair. Thanks for sharing your skincare routine.

    • I’m trying to get better. I was doing pretty good and kept it up pretty much every day, but this quarantine has me slacking. Someone else said they used shea butter too. I stopped using it on my face because I feel like it just made it look shiny, but I love it on my body though! Thanks for reading and commenting ♥

  4. Enjoyed reading this personally my skin care routine has increased since being committed to my house 😂 I find it brings me peace and lowers anxiety. Anyways, dropping in to show love.

    • I wish mine did. I’ve gotten too lazy to even do it nowadays lmao. Thank you so much for dropping in! Love seeing the Bootcamp fam! ♥

  5. My skin has broken out so badly since lockdown, despite not wearing makeup! These sound like great products – I’ve never thought of looking in TK Maxx for skincare items but once this is all over I’m going to have a look. x

    • It’s awful. I don’t know what’s going on. But yes for sure do that! I promise you won’t regret it. There are so many products! Thanks for reading and commenting ♥

  6. I know this sounds weird, but I really do love reading about other people’s skin care routines, because I always want to know about new products! I’ve heard of raw African black soap and that it’s great for acne and even for use as shampoo! I was thinking of trying to sometime, so I may have to look into it more after your seal of approval! Is there a brand you recommend?

And I love moisturizers with hyaluronic acid in them! I haven’t tried anything with Vitamin E in it, but I’ve heard good thing about it. I’m using a Vitamin C serum for my dark spots on my face, but I’m not sure it’s working.

And when it reopens, I’m going to TJ Maxx!! lol. Great post! xoxo

    • I understand that for sure! I like seeing what products people use as well. I, personally think you should try it out. I don’t have a specific brand. The kind I use, I just get from the beauty supply store and there’s not a brand name on it. Just don’t get the kind that you see that’s from brands like She Moisture and other brands like that where the soap is more artificial. Get the purely raw kind like in the picture. Yes girl head to TJ Maxx for sure!
