I’m always honored when someone tags me for something or nominates me for a blogger award. It means they were thinking of me, which is always so nice. I’ve never heard of the lockdown silver linings tag, but when I saw what it was, I thought it was such a great idea!
The rules:
Simple. Just list 5 silver linings that have come out of being in quarantine!
Before I begin, I can’t forget to shout out Jordanne for tagging me! Be sure to check out her post and see what are her silver linings. Also, check out the original creator’s Twin Mummy and Daddy.

1. Not being in a miserable environment.
If you’re a regular reader here, then you may know that I’m not too fond of my job. If you’re one of my closest friends or even coworkers, then you DEFINITELY know how I feel about my job. It’s honestly toxic to me mentally and I’m getting paid not even close to a living wage to deal with people who have the dumbest complaints(and I mean DUMB). Overall, it’s like a weight has been temporarily lifted. One that I’m heavily thinking of making a permanent lift before I have to go back (so please click the ads and help me out).
2. Making my own schedule.
Having free time from work has given me the opportunity to create the kind of schedule I really want. I’m able to wake up early, I can plan out my entire day, and I don’t get anxiety thinking about having to get things done before work since I’ll be there the entire day. I want to be a full time blogger, so getting a taste of what my future life will be like (except I’ll be going out more of course) is a push to keep going!
3. Time to learn and expand.
I have been taking classes and marketing courses from one of my biggest inspirations on Instagram @karlatobie! When I tell you that her and her publicist Mia are no joke…I mean it! They don’t play, but that’s a good thing because they’re serious about helping women, especially black and brown women, expand and be their own boss. Gems are constantly being dropped and I know for a fact I wouldn’t be able to tune in live every day for 30 days if I wasn’t in quarantine and furloughed from work. This is a blessing and the best investment. I’m ready to glow up on all platforms and I hope you guys are ready for the glow up too!
4. Expanding my cooking skills.
I know I’m not the only one who’s been cooking up a storm since being quarantined. I’ve been able to buy groceries now, like how I used to in college, so that has me trying out different things. Don’t get it twisted, I’m not cooking for Thanksgiving anytime soon, but I can survive on my own without eating the same thing every day in a row. One dish I’ve tried that I’m surprised I like is spaghetti squash! I always saw my favorite YouTubers eat them, so I thought I’d give it a try, and it’s delicious! It had me amazed because I don’t like squash. I’m excited to see what I cook next!
5. I’ve been able to save.
Let me start by saying, I’ve been doing my fair share of spending, but I’ve matched that by also saving. Being furloughed, I’ve been blessed to receive unemployment on top of a federal government check every week, which makes it the most money I’ve ever seen on a consistent weekly basis. I have not taken that for granted one bit! I’m not going to say what my plans are (once it happens I’ll make a blog post about it), but I’m blessed to have quickly saved enough to get what I want. This would’ve never happened so fast otherwise and I’m also very proud of myself for practicing good money management(for the most part)!
With everything going on, it’s good to look at silver linings
And now I tag 5 people to do the same!

I just came via Jordanne. This is a great post, this has been a perfect time to save money and look at the little things that money just can’t buy. I too can’t wait for the day where I can blog full time, although having said that I can see how this lockdown has impacted the blogging industry, as a lot of it is socialising. And here is to expanding (or in my case just start cooking) Stay safe : ) xo

Welcome! We’ll both become full time bloggers when the time is right. This quarantine really does leave you with a lot of thinking time and time to really look at what you have. Cheers to your cooking journey! Stay safe as well and thanks for stopping by! ♥
I’m definitely going to have to check out @karlatobie! And being able to work on my own time has been everything 😭 I’m glad you have some silver linings during this time
girl yes you need too! I’m in her bootcamp right now and she’s having a 2nd one and if she’s not sold out then she’s almost sold out. I think tonight is the last night you can get them. 30 days of nothing but gems and hard work to establish your brand. It’s everything! It’s a blessing to be able to have silver linings through this chaos ♥
I love this post. So important to focus on the silver linings even during difficult times. I am enjoying having more time to exercise and cook. And I love working on my own schedule too. So it’s not all that bad!
I have to get back to exercising! I did some kind of movement everyday last month so I need to keep it up this month. I’m glad you are able to find silver linings of your own through this time. Thanks for reading and commenting ♥
I feel you on the not being in a miserable environment. Before the lockdown started, I was working a temp job, and it was so draining working there. So I’m happy to be away from it and focusing on freelance work. It’s also been nice to save extra money by staying in. It’s something I hope to continue once this is over or at least cut back on Amazon.
I feel you on the cutting back on Amazon! I have Prime and it’s my weakness. Happy for you being able to focus on your freelance work! I’ll be there for good and soon. Speaking it into existence ♥
Hey sis! First thank you for tagging me!! I’m gonna need to check out Karlatobie’s marketing course because I’m trying to grow my blog and SHEICONIC brand, so I need all the advice I can get. I too been cooking more, it’s nice to experiment with food andbe one your on personal chef!

yes girl I highly recommend! I think she’s sold out of tickets, but if anything opens I’ll let you know. Otherwise, I’m sure she’s going to have a third one down the road and she has an e-book out that I highly suggest! Just let me know if you want the link. But yes being your own chef is fun sometimes! I took a break, but I’ll be back at it today. Thanks for reading ♥
