Daylight savings time has ended, which means clocks went back an hour, which also means we are given an extra hour in our day. This also means the sun will be rising earlier, but unfortunately, also setting earlier.
A lot of times people only take advantage of daylight savings by using it to sleep a little more. That’s great, however, I think there are a few more ways you can use daylight savings time to your advantage. Keep reading to find out what are those ways!

Get an earlier start to your day.
I know personally that I’ve been trying hard to wake up earlier in the mornings, but it has been a struggle! Usually, when this time comes around, our body hasn’t become accustomed to the time change yet. So, although it may be 6 AM, our minds think it’s 7 AM. I know an extra hour sounds amazing, but why not get a head start on the day!? Instead of sleeping in that extra hour (unless you really need it), once your body wakes up, don’t go back to sleep. You don’t want to give it the chance to get used to your usual sleeping habits. Wake up with the sun and get things done!
Don’t let that extra time go to waste.
We all wish we had a little bit more time in the day, I know I do. Even though an extra hour may not seem like much, a lot can be done in an hour. Don’t allow the extra time to go to waste. I know it’s easier to let time slip you by because it may feel like you have all the time in the world, but it won’t always feel that way and time is very precious. Don’t let that time go to waste.
Use early sunsets to end your day earlier.
I’m someone who is a lot more productive during the day. I will end up working all day, but when the sun sets and it gets dark, my brain just doesn’t want to think anymore. When the sun sets a lot later in the day, then that means I’m typically working all day until around 8 PM…sometimes even 9. Although I hate how early the sun sets and it’s a bit depressing to me, it’s a great way to use it as an excuse to end your workday sooner.
Use early sunsets to start your day earlier.
This one’s for my creatives that work better at night. Although I’m not the most creative at night, I know some people who are. I often see how some creatives have been up working until 5 AM! I could never! For those that get their creative juices going at night, it getting dark sooner means that you can start your work sooner. The sooner you start, the sooner you can get things done and hopefully that means less time working until 5 AM.
Now that I’m a content creator, I’m really understanding the importance of time and making the most out of the time you have. I’ve never seen daylight savings time ending as anything more than an extra hour of sleep and an early end to my day…until now.
If you’re currently the same, then I hope these tips helped you see how you can take advantage of daylight savings!
Yes to all of these! Time is so precious and when we are able to get an extra hour, it’s key to use it wisely. That way we can really focus in on achieving those goals even more. Thanks for sharing.
It is! I’m trying my best to use this new time as much as possible. Thanks for reading and commenting ♥
The whole idea of daylight savings is foreign to me. We don’t use it here in South Africa, we just deal with the fact that the sun comes up later and sets earlier in winter. What’s the logic behind daylight savings? Asking for a friend 🙂

Truthfully, I don’t know the exact history behind it. I think I briefly saw something online a few years ago, but I’m not 100% sure. I feel like we should be the same way, but someone slapped a label on it and called it daylight savings lol
Great tips! Time is the most precious commodity. I live in a state that doesn’t do daylight savings time so I just had to give this a read and see what I was missing. 😂 Thanks!
You’re the second person that said they lived somewhere that doesn’t do daylight savings. For some season I assumed it was a thing everywhere. You’re not missing too much truthfully, but there are those things you can benefit from. Glad I could help cure your curiosity lol
