I believe we live in a time where people are wanting to pursue their dreams more and not do what other people think they should be doing or settling because they feel they have to. The sad fact is, a lot of those same people are also afraid to go after their dreams. Taking that big leap can be scary because you don’t know what will happen or what other people will think.
Despite being afraid, you should still go after your dreams and I’m sharing how to do so below!

Think about when you’re most happy.
I think being happy in life is the most important thing in the world. Because of just how life is, it’s unfortunate that so many people end up having to settle or choose to settle for a job or career that doesn’t make them happy. Think about when you’re the happiest. Is it when you’re doing that thing that you love so much? If that’s the case, then you need to start thinking about pursuing that dream. If that’s the only thing that stays on your mind the most, then it’s time that you stop dreaming about it and start working on living it. Fear is a small word, but if you let it, it’ll make a big impact on your life.
Acknowledge that no one is living your life but you.
I understand completely how scary it can be to pursue your dreams, especially if it involves something that’s not seen as “normal”, but this is YOUR life. The quicker you acknowledge that…the quicker you will become ready to throw fear out of the window. Imagine if you didn’t pursue your dream and did what everyone else wanted you to do. Now, imagine yourself at an old or older age and you’re taking a look back at your life. Are you happy with what you see? Everyone has lived their life, but you have lived the life someone else wanted for you.
You deserve better than that.
Remember you’re worth it.
Speaking of deserving better, when you know you deserve better, then it’s easier to remember that you’re worth it. When you’re scared to go after something, it can be easy to forget that you’re worth the thing you’re going after. It may take you days, months, or even years of reminding yourself that you’re worth it but that day will come where you finally believe it. Once you do, there’s nothing that can stop you from pursuing your dreams…not even yourself.
Understand that the ones who truly matter will support you.
Sometimes the fear of pursuing your dreams merely comes from the lack of support you feel you might receive or even the possible pressure. The hardest thing to accept is when a loved one that you thought would accept and cheer you on does the opposite. It’s hard because you want them to be by your side, but at the end of the day, this is about you and your dream. The ones who are truly there for you will support you wholeheartedly.
Just go for it.
Yes, this is easier said than done, but sometimes you just have to take the leap of faith and go for it. I believe that the longer you do wait, the more opportunity you give fear to become comfortable. As someone who avoided things because of fear, I know this firsthand. Also, not going for it means that you’re allowing more time to pass by that you’re not using to pursue your dreams. If it’s something you know you really want, then you shouldn’t want to let another second pass by where you’re not working toward your dreams becoming a reality…fear or not.
Pursuing your dreams is not always the easiest thing to do when you have so many reasons swirling around in your mind for why you shouldn’t. You’re always going to go through obstacles in life, but going through the obstacles of trying to pursue your dreams is a much better feeling once you’ve made it to the end!
This was soo good and motivational just as a reminder to keep going and push through those bitter nagging doubts I have in my head. I do persevere but there are other times when putting myself out there seems too much to handle honestly 🙂
It absolutely is a lot to handle when you’re not used to it. I’m still working on it, but it just takes baby steps. Find the easiest least nerve-wracking way for you to do so and start there. Then once you feel comfortable, you can go up from there. I’m glad you found my post motivational, and I hope one day you decide to take the steps! Others need to see your wonderful personality as I have ♥
Thank you so much. I have to give you a hug for those kind words. I think I am and do try to move forwards but very cautiously. There is a lot more to be done and hopefully I will get there but on the way I will continue to enjoy your intelligent thoughts 🙂
As long as you’re moving, you’ll get there! And thank you so much…I’d definitely give you a hug if I could ♥
What an awesome post! I really like what you said about reminding yourself that you are worth taking a chance. I agree with your final point, just go for it! That’s what I’ve been doing with my freelance writing business. Sure there are barriers and lots to learn, but in the long-run, it’s worth taking some risks in our lives.
