How To Prep For The Year Ahead: Blogmas Day 23

The new year is vastly approaching and it’s time to start preparing for what’s ahead. Although you can’t predict what’s going to happen or what life throws at you (2020 taught us that), it’s still good to prepare for the things you can control within your life.

It’s always nice to start fresh and feel like you have a clean slate. It’s important to remember that just because the clock strikes at midnight doesn’t mean that things will suddenly change. However, it does mean that you have been gifted another year to try and make it better than the previous one. In order to do that, there’s a little bit of prep you should do to make sure you’re starting things off on the right foot!

Do a deep clean.

Before you step into the new year, doing a deep clean is a great way to make sure you’re not transitioning with a bunch of mess transitioning with you. When you think of deep cleaning, it’s automatic that you start thinking about your room or house. However, this applies to ALL aspects of your life. This applies to your place, technology, sometimes your body, and it can even include the people around you. Whatever you feel needs to be cleansed out and refreshed, it should be done. You’ll feel so much better once you step into a new year with a fresh start…literally.

Refresh your planners and calendars.

Next is to toss out the 2021 planners and calendars and purchase some new ones! Of course, there’s no need for the old ones anymore since you will be starting a new year. I know that I tend to hold on to my old planners, so I know there are others out there who do the same. It’s time that we all let those things go! Besides, there’s nothing like the feel of brand new stationery.

Set your goals.

Let’s start this off by saying that goals and resolutions should be considered two different things. Goals are things that you truly want to obtain for yourself. They’re realistic and are broken down from bigger goals into smaller ones. Resolutions have become things that are seen as aesthetic. Everyone loves to say they’re going to eat better, work out more, read one book a month, and use their phone less…but how many actually do it? Everyone should stop making new year resolutions and start making goals for themselves that they would truly love to achieve.

Partake in self care.

Lastly, you should partake in a little self-care! When you look good, you feel good and you don’t want to step into the new year feeling crappy. If you start the new year with self-love, that’s a great way to set the tone for the rest of the year!

The thought of the new year approaching so fast can get a little scary, but with these tips, you will be prepared for when it comes!

What’s your favorite way to prepare for the new year?

  1. Great list! I’ve already gotten my 2022 planner! And spilled coffee on it. Sometime after the first of the year I’ll recycle the pages of my 2021 planner.

    • Oh no! I hope it wasn’t too bad and you could save it. I never thought about recycling the pages. Sounds like a great idea!
