February 2021 Monthly Update: A Year Self-Hosted!

Another month has passed, and if you noticed by the title, then you know that February officially marked a year of being self-hosted! For those who don’t know what it means to be self-hosted, then it basically just means that it’s been a year of officially owning and having full control of my website. Let me tell you, it’s the best feeling in the world, and the most important step in order to make a career out of blogging!

Now that we’ve gone through that accomplishment, if you’re a constant reader here then you know the drill, it’s time to look at what else I managed to accomplish in February.

Begin working on season 4 of my podcast. I, unfortunately, didn’t get to record any episodes in February, but I was able to get some information in to the person who’s going to create my new intro and outro music. So, look forward to that once season 4 is out!

Figure out technical issues with my blog (Google Analytics). Okay, so I’m cheating with this one because I didn’t figure out Google Analytics, but I did try. For anyone who has dealt with Google Analytics knows how much of a pain it can be, especially if you don’t know what you’re doing. If you’re reading this and you know what you’re doing…this is my SOS.

Continue working on self-care. I really want to work on my self-care in all aspects, and I did so in February by trying to take care of my hair a little better. I’m terrible at oiling my scalp consistently, and we black girls know how important it is to make sure your hair and scalp are moisturized. I bought a bottle of hair growth oil that my friend created, and ever since I received it, I’ve been doing good at oiling my scalp daily (go me)!

Drink 5 (20oz) cups of water a day. I’m so proud of myself with this one! I have to be honest and say that it hasn’t been EVERY day, but it has been most days. I’m not sure why it’s so hard to drink enough water, but my goal is to make it where I’m actually craving more water instead of having to force myself like I’ve had to do quite a few times.

You really don’t realize how much you’ve accomplished until you lay everything out. I didn’t realize I accomplished anything until now, so here’s your reminder to do the same!

Now let’s get into my goals for March!

Blog/business

  • Make 5-10 sales on my eBook
  • 5 more newsletter subscribers
  • update old blog posts
  • work on Season 4 of pod

Personal

  • Practice new hobby at least 3x a week*
  • Create a morning skincare routine
  • Finalize a solid morning routine (if I don’t get it done then please get on me)

*I shared what my new hobby is in yesterday’s newsletter. If you’d like to be a part of the first to know announcements and when freebies drop, then you can sign up here or on the home page.

I do have one more goal added on than the normal amount, but I believe that I can get these goals accomplished and that March will turn out successful!

What’s a goal that you have for this month?

  1. Hi Deandra,
fancy stumbling in your blog from Twitter! I love it! I get your goals as they are manageable and achievable. As you say, the thing to do is to really set them out and you’ll have something to see and measure against or tick off etc.
We started our blog (my twin sister and I) in 2016 and we find that we always do better when we set out manageable goals.
Congrats on being self-hosted! Great move.
As for Google analytics, we hate doing that and any other techie stuff too. We are so afraid that we will break something and have the whole site falling down! There’s a guy in the States called Grayson Bell that we use to do techie stuff for us. He is so knowledgeable and definitely doesn’t try to make a killing pricewise. There’s also a lady here in the UK who helped us with a few tasks too.
Well, all the very best with your blog, podcast, and personal goals for March. Hope to pop back again soon.
Ps when you talk about your podcast and ebook, you should definitely leave a link to them.

    • I’m so glad you found me and are loving my blog! That’s so cool that you share a blog with your twin sister. I know having people to handle the tech side of things must take a huge load off your shoulders! Once I’m able to, that’s definitely the route I’ll be going. Thanks for the tip! I usually do, it was just a forgetful moment lol. Thanks for stopping by to read and comment ♥

  2. Girl damn Google Ana seriously. I don’t have FULL control of pixiedustwords (though I’m thinking of moving it but I don’t wanna lose all my suscribers) but I do have full control of 3 other blogs and if they ask me to upload ONE MORE TAG HTML thing, I. will. scream lol.

    • Wait…you have 4 blogs in total!? Girl how do you manage them all??? I feel like I can barely manage my one sometimes lmao. And I’m sure that’s a huge headache! I need a Google analytics for dummies at this point lol!
