Different Hosting Sites For Podcasters

Raise your hand if you’re running out of ideas to get through the quarantine *raises both hands and both feet*. The longer this goes, the more new things people are willing to try. One of those things might be podcasting. Whether you’ve been wanting to start a podcast for a while, or this is just a spur of the moment decision, you’re going to need a podcast host.

What’s a podcast host?

“A podcast host is a place to store and distribute your podcast’s audio files. They provide a podcast RSS feed (basically a listing of all your episodes) that you will submit to other podcast directories.”

The podcast directories would be Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, etc. I’m just going to tell you some of the podcasts that are out there and you can check them out to see which one you feel is best for you. Sometimes you might start off using one host and then end up not liking it and prefer to switch to another. That’s totally fine! It all takes trial and error!

Anchor.FM

If you didn’t know, I do have a podcast and Anchor is the site I use to host it. I didn’t start with Anchor, but it was very easy to transfer my podcast over. You’re able to make money on there through sponsored ads and you can see your analytics the second you log on like your top episodes and places around the world where people listen to your podcasts. It is also completely free!

Buzzsprout

Buzzsprout is the host that I started with when I was starting my podcast. I think it’s pretty good for beginners. You can monetize your podcast, get your stats and everything thing else. The big thing for me that made me switch was the fact it wasn’t free. So, I’d beware of that if you choose to go with it. You can use it free for 90 days. They also will delete your podcast episodes after a certain amount of time if you’re using the free version.

Podbean

Just as with the others, Podbean has a multitude of functions to fit you and your podcast. It’s easy to publish your podcast, you can schedule your podcasts, monetize, etc. Podbean also has memberships as well, but you don’t have to pay if you don’t want. There is a free option. Of course, you get more with the different memberships, but if this isn’t something you’re taking too seriously then free is the way to go.

Podcasts.com

Just looking at the different features, it seems like podcasts.com is for someone who really knows their stuff! It’s 100% free, has SEO optimization, Google analytics integration, and more. If those things are something you care about, then I’d look into them!

Vurbl

If you’ve looked through all the other hosting sites and want something new, then maybe give Vurbl a try! Vurbl is a new and upcoming hosting site that launches this summer. If you go on their site, you can see at the top the different podcast categories they have as well. If you think you might like to use them as a hosting site, then set your alarm for their summer 2020 launch!

Do you have a podcast or ever thought about making one? If you do, would you go with one of the hosts I mentioned or a different one?

If you’d like to listen to my most recent podcast episode, you can scroll to the bottom of my blog. If you’d like to subscribe, I’m on Spotify and Anchor.fm.

  1. I’ve thought about making a podcast. I’d likely use the 100% free option. However, vlogging might be a better option for me since I’ll be doing TV show reviews. Thanks for sharing 😊

    • Tv show reviews sound so fun! I know podcasters who do Tv show reviews as well. Whichever you choose, I know you’ll kill it! Thanks for reading and commenting ♥

  2. Great post! I love how you broke these up and the overall format of this post. Clean and easy to read! Also, this was really great information—I learned several new things about podcasts, especially in terms of hosting vs. directories. Thank you for sharing!

    • Thank you so much! I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed my post and that you were also able to learn from it as well. Thanks for reading and commenting ♥
