Love is in the air, and more importantly, Black History Month is being celebrated as we have officially entered into the month of February. I’m not sure if it’s because I was on a break or because I was waiting on a birthday, but January seemed to go by slow and suddenly sped up near the end. Regardless, I’m happy to have made it through the first month of 2022 without any scratches (fingers crossed for the rest of the year).
As always, a new month officially means new goals to achieve! Because I was on a break, I was unable to do my update for December or share my goals for January. However, I did make January goals. In this post, I’m going to share what I managed to accomplish for the last month of December, share my goals for January and how I did with accomplishing them, and provide you with my goals for February!

First, before we get into January 2022, we have to take it back to December 2021! Here’s a reminder of the goals that I made and which out of the list were accomplished.

Accomplish posting every single day for blogmas. Truthfully, blogmas almost took me out this year, but I made it through and accomplished posting every single day in December until Christmas! I’m so proud of myself and I knew that I was going to do it (I gave myself no other option). I can’t 100% say if I’ll do blogmas the traditional way again or not, but this year I will absolutely be taking a different route.
Reach 60 email subscribers. I’m proud to say that I am currently standing at 62 subscribers! It’s all thanks to you guys for being interested in my work and continuing to support all that I do. Write my goals for 2022. I’m so thankful for this blog because if I didn’t have it to do yearly/monthly posts, I probably still wouldn’t have my goals figured out for 2022. It’s okay if you don’t, but I need to know what I’m working for in order to keep going and pushing forward. If you’d like to see my goals for 2022, you can read them in my 2021 annual update!
Practice being the main character. I almost didn’t include this one based on what others may think it means to practice being the main character, but I said forget that! Practicing being the main character in December, for me, meant that I stayed strong with blogmas and didn’t give up. It also meant that I put myself first with making the decision to stick to my break and I’m glad that I did so.
I believe that I ended the year off pretty well, and I’m hoping to have even more goals scratched off my list each month in 2022. With that being said, here are the goals that were made for January and what I managed to accomplish!
Blog/business
- Take a break
- Update socials
- Figure out Instagram posting schedule
Personal
- Work on budgeting
- Some form of daily movement
- Read other blog posts and work on Instagram interaction
Take a break. As I’ve said before, I went through with taking my break, which is very hard for me to do. If this was high school or even college Deandra the case would be a different story. When you’re working so hard for something you love and you’re on a time crunch to making it happen, it’s hard to take a break. It was necessary for me and now I’m ready to give all of my supporters all that I have!
Figure out Instagram posting schedule. I’ve somewhat got this figured out, but not fully. It’s just so hard to want to post as much as possible but to also not feel drained from doing so for so long. I’ve been posting 3x a week for a while not but lately have also been feeling drained from it. I’ve been debating on keeping the same days and posting times and just taking the amount down from 3x to 2-3x a week. I’m still not 100% sure, but any tips are appreciated!
I have to admit, I wish that I managed to accomplish more for the first month of 2022, but there are always more chances to get things done! Lastly, let’s finally look into the goals I plan to accomplish in February!
Blog/business
- Update podcast Instagram and post consistently
- Reach 70 email subscribers
- Finish designs for project
- Catch up on blog posts + more interaction on Instagram
Personal
- Work on budgeting
- Create my private personal plan for 2022
This was a long one, but one filled with so many goals and accomplishments that I hope it inspired you to not only make your own monthly goals but work on crushing them each month. Whether you share them or not, goals are so important to keep yourself accountable and they help you find a purpose when you need one the most.
What are your goals for February? I’d love to know in the comments!
I love when you say that you wanted to practice being the main character. It’s important to put yourself first & do the things that you want
It definitely is and everyone should strive to be the main character daily ♥
