Blogmas Day 4: Tips To Help Moving During The Holidays Easier

I have mentioned before in my last post about life not stopping or slowing down even though the holidays are here. In my last post, I was talking about needing money to buy gifts for Christmas. This time, I’m talking about moving during the holidays. The holidays can be the worst time to move sometimes. You may want to decorate, but you can’t because all your stuff is in boxes and you have no clue where everything is. You might not have everything together and you have to get a moving truck and make sure you are out in time. It really is a lot. If you are a college student then you may be prepping to move at this moment as well. Moving is hectic in general, but with the holidays coming into play, it can be even worse. If you are looking for some tips to help you feel a little less stressful during this time, then you have come to the right place! I will provide just a few tips for the holiday mover in hopes of helping everything go smoothly.

The first thing you should do is write down a plan/ list. I believe lists are helpful and if you are a huge procrastinator like me, then they might help a lot. You can write down everything you need to get done before you just start packing up everything. Typically, that could resort to everything being everywhere, nothing being fully packed up, and you end up being up super late at night trying to get things done. I don’t know about you, but that does not sound like the best scenario to me. So, write everything out that needs to be done before you can start packing. If you get things started ahead of time (which is the goal here) then you can plan out what days you are going to pack which areas of the house/apartment/ dorm. This way you won’t be doing too much all at once. That can cause you to go into overload.

The next important thing to help make the holiday moving a little easier is to go ahead and get all the items you need for moving. This may include boxes, crates, tape, scissors, and whatever else it is that you may need. It may seem like a small task to some people, but it really is very important. How can you move without anything to put your stuff in? Besides the actual packing process itself, I believe getting the materials is one of the most procrastinated part of the moving process. Even though it is not the most fun process (unless you bring friends along to try and make it fun), it has to be done and is best to just get it out of the way. Once you have that out of the way, you can do another tedious job and organize/label the boxes. I say to do this because once you start actually packing, you won’t have to worry about labeling or anything, it will already be done. To me, that just makes the process go by a little bit faster.

Last but not least, to help the moving process go a little bit more smooth, I suggest going with a really good moving company. A moving company can help out so much and you won’t have to worry about moving everything yourself. This is especially helpful when you are moving a long distance. The company I suggest is Atlanta Peach Movers. The company is located in Georgia, and something that is great about it is the fact they do long distance moving. Moving long distance can be a pain during the holidays and there may be some companies who might only travel but so far. Not this company. Atlanta Peach Movers will help you move across the state and even overseas. If you are a college student who had to travel far to go to school, they can help you make sure all of your stuff makes it safely back home. Another reason I suggest going this route is the fact that you don’t have to worry about bothering friends or family with the moving process. You can get the professional help you need and you won’t have to feel guilty.

  1. We actually just moved to a bigger place and we were all done on 1 and 2 of December . It was freezing and everywhere people enjoyed Christmas decorations and lazy mornings. So I will never move in December again if I’m not desperate🤣🤣

  2. I am kind of in this situation now– Not quite sure of the big (move) day it should be in Jan (I pray). I’m trying to mentally prepare and not overload myself with too much shopping and too much stuff. I limited us to buying 1 new holiday decoration per common area in the house (it sounds ridiculous but a splash of holiday here and there is quaint enough) As far as packing goes…I plan on giving away most old clothes, selling a couple of things, and packing all of our other minimal belongings at the last minute. I’ll take your suggestion for box-labeling though and get them ready and labeled to throw everything in when we’re ready!

  3. Very useful topic!! Our lease is up in December so it’ll be a holiday move for us at the end of the year. Just thinking about it is stressing me out. I give ALL THE KUDOS to people who do everything themselves… there’s just no way. I would definitely opt for a moving company. It relieves some of the stress and any stress that can be relieved would sooo be helpful during that time. Labeling everything in the beginning is a good tip! That’s something I’ll try to remember to do. Thanks for sharing doll!!
