Blogmas Day 24: How To Prepare For The New Year

Tomorrow is Christmas! This is not a drill! I am so excited for Christmas to be here, but I know once it comes and goes, the new year will begin to creep on in. The question is…are you prepared!? If you’re not prepared then you’re not alone, but don’t worry, we can prepare for it together!

Write it out. I think one of the most important things is to write down what you truly want for the new year. I wouldn’t call them new year resolutions. I feel like new year resolutions are just things that people make, but seriously never get done. Maybe some people get them done, but there are some people (like me..oops) that make these resolutions and don’t get one thing done on them…or only get one thing done on them. Write something truly meaningful. I mean, to workout more can be truly meaningful depending on a true goal that you want. Write down real goals and put them where you’ll see them so they can be a daily reminder.

Declutter your life. It’s time to clean! One of the things I love to do is do a deep clean of my room. I take everything out that I can, move furniture that never gets moved, and clean away. I dust, vacuum, and sometimes even rearrange my room around a little bit. Something else I like to do is go through my closet and see if there are any clothes that I’m going to donate. I promise you, you’ll feel so much better about stepping into the new year with a space that isn’t so cluttered and junky. You can do this with your room, house, car, etc. Another way to declutter your life is to put people in the past. Sometimes you have to leave people and especially drama in this year and not bring it into the new year. And yes, this means the ex that you might be texting back periodically…mhm. Sometimes this might even mean friends or family as well. Whatever isn’t good for you, if you haven’t left it already, it’s time to leave it now.

Spiritual cleanse. I think a spiritual cleanse is something people should do more. You don’t have to do anything extra, but simply just make the decision to replace any negative energy you may have had in December or even throughout 2018, and release it. Sit and meditate for a minute. Breathe in and out. For me, I would pray to keep any energy or vibes away that don’t belong in 2019. This might also mean going back and decluttering some of the people you have in your life. Start 2019 with a clean heart. Do be realistic though, not every issue you have can just disappear because it’s a new year. But, you can fix the things that are able to be changed.

Body Cleanse. The last thing I would say to do to prepare for the new year is to cleanse your body (you may have to do this twice to cleanse out that alcohol you’re having on new years). A lot of people tend to wait until January 1st to start going to the gym and everything. That’s fine, but what’s wrong with starting now? Start on track before the new year. If it’s something you really want to do then it’s good to get a head start…even if it’s only a week. Go into 2019 with good habits already set in place.

This year has been crazy to say the least. I may do one more post reflecting on the year. I hope you all go are able to go into the new year with big dreams and all the tools you need to implement them.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
