The holidays are here and plenty of people are already filled with Christmas cheer! For some, once the clock struck midnight and November 1st officially came, those Halloween pumpkins turned into Christmas trees. As for others, well, they just want to make it to Thanksgiving dinner before hearing a Jingle Bell or a HO HO HO. It’s not hard to dive into the Christmas spirit with television stations such as Hallmark or Lifetime playing Christmas movies since October. This is also usually the time where music artists release their new Christmas singles and stores blast them until no end.
Despite the holiday season being alive, well, and very tempting…does that mean people who are putting up their Christmas decorations are doing it right, or is it still too early!?
I have to be honest, as a Christmas lover I could be a little bit biased with my answer, but I think people who are putting their decorations up already are just fine! Others who prefer to wait aren’t in the wrong either. People should do whatever makes them happy without the judgment of others (unless it’s harmful and I’m pretty sure Christmas lights don’t fall in that category). How often do you see the conversation of spooky season coming up when it’s only July or August? Quite often. So, the preparation for Christmas should be considered no different.
A factor that can play into why some may see putting decorations up before Thanksgiving could be the dislike for the holiday altogether. Some are just not into it for their own personal reasons, and that’s okay! However, it’s not the best idea to project your dislike onto others that choose to fully dive headfirst into the season. This can only make others feel ashamed or embarrassed when there’s nothing to feel ashamed or embarrassed about. If you’re questioning whether or not you should put up Santa’s reindeer, I say go for it! We could all use a little extra Christmas cheer this year anyway, right?

Agreed. I’m putting Christmas decorations up already. It is cheerful. I love Christmas. I don’t dislike Thanksgiving either. It is easier to find Christmas decorations, than thanksgiving decorations right now anyway.

I agree! Do what makes you happy. I prefer to wait until after Thanksgiving myself, but I don’t mind if others choose to put their decorations earlier. It doesn’t hurt me any.

I actually decided to put Christmas decor up early to cheer myself up as I lost my dad a few months ago & we will be traveling during the holidays so I won’t even get to enjoy the decor Christmas Day.
