6 Products You Need To Add Into Your Routine For Smooth Skin!

Winter is still among us and has even gone into full effect with snowstorms and all. This doesn’t only mean that it’s extremely cold, but it also means that you have to work harder to protect your skin from the harsh conditions the winter weather can bring.

Beyond the winter conditions, working on my self-care and overall skin care is something that I’ve been trying to do for a little while now. I’ve also been on a very long journey to try and find products that keep my skin hydrated and moisturized because I deal with eczema and I struggle mostly with keeping my legs, especially my ankles, from getting dry and ashy.

With that being said, I’ve recently started using a combination of products and I’m in love with how my skin has been feeling! It has felt so smooth all the way into the next day, and I may have found the product that finally works for my legs/ankles. If you’ve been trying to find products to keep your skin soft and moisturized, keep reading to check out my body care routine!

#1. Dove Shea Butter & Warm Vanilla Body Wash

I’d like to start off by saying that this wasn’t the original bodywash that I was using, but I couldn’t find my usual bodywash and I decided to try this one since I grew up on using the soap. My other body wash made my skin feel smooth, but THIS is on a whole different level! I felt my skin right after using it and was in shock! After using this body wash, I love to run my hands across my skin just because of how it feels. If you’re not a fan of this scent, they also come in different scents that you can find in your store or online.

#2. Hemp Body Scrub

I’m not the best at exfoliating as I should, but I’ve been trying to at least work on remembering to do so when I shave. This one was another “accidental” find. While I was originally looking for the Treehut body scrub brand, there were none left (I blame TikTok), but I did come across this gem! I love the smell and I believe it was a little bit cheaper than TreeHut as well!

#3. Loofah

I figured that this was an honorable mention, but I love to use my loofah! It really feels as if it’s scrubbing my skin well and helping to get the dead skin off. I also love to see how much lather I receive with the combination of my loofah and my body wash. There are so many different types of loofahs out there, and even loofah rags! I’m a poof girl, but you can choose whichever is best for you.

#4. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

After seeing many people talk about and suggest CeraVe on social media, I decided to give it a try and it has now been at least a year of using it. This is one of those products that I decided to try for help with the dry skin on my ankles and for my legs when I’m feeling too lazy to deal with oils. I love to use it for my body, and although I don’t think it 100% helps with my ankles, it does help keep the rest of my body moisturized and smooth. I also like to put it on my face as well!

#5. Illuminate Me Body Butter By Vaseline

I have to give TikTok its credit where it’s due, and this is the case when it comes to finding this gem! I am in LOVE with the smell and feel of this body butter. It’s so smooth and that smoothness transfers right onto your skin. I’ve only been using this for a couple of weeks, but I’m already planning to buy another one just in case. I’m currently in the process of only using my CeraVe for my face and using this daily for my body instead. I wanted to keep this as something I only take out for special occasions, but how can you not want to smell and feel this good all of the time!?

#6. Solimo Cocoa Butter Body Oil Gel

Lastly in my current routine, I use this cocoa butter body oil gel. Listen, I’ve only been using this gel for probably a couple of weeks now and it’s easily become my new holy grail! As I’ve stated before, one of my main goals was to help with the dryness and ashiness that I receive in certain areas on my skin due to my eczema, especially around my ankles. I was using coconut oil before finding this product but it doesn’t last and I find it too messy if not careful (cue the oil stains I’ve had to get off my sheets). No lotion was working for me and I knew I needed an oil type product. Thank you again to TikTok because it helped me discover, not this product, but the Illuminate Me Shimmering Body Oil that actually goes with the body butter mentioned previously.

I loved the pump it had and wanted to purchase so I found it on Amazon. It was $10, and although that’s not high, I needed something a little cheaper and then I came across this gem! There were such good reviews and I see why now. I’m in love with this product. It’s not as messy as coconut oil because it’s a gel and it lasts. Not only that, but it’s the final step in my routine and locks in that smooth skin!

I’ve been using this product combination for about a few weeks now and I’m not sure if I can ever go back! Friendly reminder that this is my personal routine and these products have been working well for me thus far, but keep in mind that we all have different skin. If you’d like to try any of these products out, they can be found on Amazon and Walmart. Although I didn’t go to Target, I’m sure you can also find them there as well.

I’m obsessed with my new routine and I’m glad that I’ve finally found something that’s working for me! What’s your go-to product? Let me know!

  1. The Vaseline cocoa body butter is my favorite. I’ve used it before as well as other Vaseline products. The body butter is amazing. I like how the products you listed can be purchased at a grocery store/drug store and that they aren’t expensive.

Luffas should be replaced every 2-3 months and I don’t know anyone who replaces them that often.

    • It’s soo good!! I can’t afford those high end luxury products so these were perfect for me and besides…who says the products have to be expensive to be luxurious and work well!? 💅🏾 I heard you have to change it every 3 weeks, but it could be months. Regardless, I literally buy a new one every time I go grocery shopping which is once every few weeks to a month so I change mines pretty regularly.

      • Maybe it was weeks 🤔 I honestly don’t remember what I read lol I think you’re right – it’s better to switch them out more often. I don’t use the loofah but my husband does, and I’ll make sure to buy new one next time I run errands.

        • Lol yea and it’s crazy because I just made the switch maybe two or so years ago from using washcloths and bar soap to using body wash and a loofah because I saw it was better and almost as soon as I made a switch, people are now talking about other things you should use instead lol. I love using loofahs so as long as I’m switching them out, just like with anything else, I’ll be good to go!

          • I’m trying to use up our bar soap. I’m not a huge fan of bar soap and yet, somehow we had 24 bars of it at one point. Like, who is buying this soap?! Also, my mom gave me some soap for Christmas which I’m using up. After that, I’ll be going back to shower gels and bath bombs. Bath bombs make my skin really soft but can also dry out the skin if used excessively. It’s a fine balance! 😅

I’m hoping to switch back to the Vaseline body butter once I use up more of my products. Right now, I am using BioOil if I remember to use it. It smells amazing and is great for skin too 🙂

          • 24!? Someone must really love bar soap 😂. But it’s good you’re using it up first so nothing is wasted. I can’t wait until I get my own place with a nice tub because I’ve always wanted to use bath bombs! I just want to create a luxurious bath with candles and all the works lol. I’ve heard of Bio Oil and I think that it works good with stretch marks or something like that. I might have to try it!

          • Similar to the 39 bath bombs we had at one point. We buy in bulk. The problem arises when we forget what we have and buy more. Most of the bad soap is Old Spice or Irish Spring so I smell like a man some days 😂 I refuse to buy any more soap until we use it all up. I think we have about 10 bars left.

We happen to have a very large, basic bathtub. It’s a basic bathroom with a shower + tub but the bathtub is very deep. It takes ton of water to fill and the water doesn’t really stay hot which is kinda annoying. I would love to have a jacuzzi one day. My parents had one but it’s more like a normal tub with jets.
