5 Self Care Tips For The Winter: Blogmas Day 13

Taking care of yourself and doing your self-care is important no matter what time of the year it is, but it’s especially important to do so during the winter season. This time of year is not only when it’s the darkest outside, but it’s also the coldest. Neither of those things are good for your skin or your mental health. Someone who suffers from depression, whether seasonal or in general, might not have the urge to do self-care often if at all.

This results in your skin becoming dry, dull, and just not taken care of overall which can also aid in any negative views you may feel about yourself. These self-care tips provided below are easy do to, will make your skin thank you, and will have you feeling good…even if just for a moment.

Use face masks.

Face masks are so nice and a great way for some instant skin/self care. The best thing about face masks is the number of options that there are. Face masks come in different forms, such as clay masks, sheet masks, peel masks…the possibilities are endless! There are also different kinds for whatever you feel your skin needs. I love that you can just put it on your face and let it sit while you lay back and relax. Your face will feel rejuvenated and so will you!

Moisturize.

The winter is so cold and harsh on your skin that it can easily dry it out. It’s the same for your hair as well. Keeping your hair and body moisturized is a must when fighting that winter air. There is an abundance of moisturizers for all different areas and needs, all you have to do is find the ones you like best. Moisturizing may seem like a lot when you already barely have the energy for self-care, but your skin will feel so good and soft.

Exfoliate.

Exfoliating will help aid in achieving the soft skin previously mentioned. It’s not good to do every single day because that will give you opposite results, but when done properly, exfoliating will shed your layer of dry skin. Just feeling my skin alone afterward makes me feel amazing and like a brand new woman!

Put on lip balm.

Give those lips some love and use a bit of lip balm daily to ensure your lips are smooth and moisturized. Some might not think about what the cold is doing to their lips until it’s too late and their lips are dry and cracked. Cracked lips are not a good feeling and are in fact painful. Putting on lip balm is such an easy form of self-care that you might even forget it’s self-care, but it absolutely is.

Use body oil.

The last winter self-care tip is to use body oil. The feel of the oil against your skin, especially after a nice shower, is nothing like any other. It’s basically a way of telling your body that you love it by locking in moisture and keeping it extremely soft. Doing something so simple can make you feel like the most luxurious person in the world and that’s what matters the most.

Sometimes just taking a little bit of time to do your skincare could make all the difference in the world. Not only will your skin thank you, but your mind will thank you for doing so. If you’re looking for even more tips, I have a blog post where I provided tips on keeping your skin moisturized during winter.
