Recently, I wrote a post suggesting some black movies to see(you can check the post out here). Well, I’m back with more movie recommendations for your weekend! This time I’ll be suggesting some black comedies. These can be helpful now, and later after watching all those scary movies you’ll be seeing next month. Here are my 5 favorite/ must see black comedies!
1. Girls Trip(2017)
Description: Best friends Ryan, Sasha, Lisa and Dina are in for the adventure of a lifetime when they travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival. Along the way, they rekindle their sisterhood and rediscover their wild side by doing enough dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing to make the Big Easy blush. (google)
2. Barbershop (2002)
Description: A smart comedy about a day in the life of a barbershop on the south side of Chicago. Calvin (Ice Cube), who inherited the struggling business from his deceased father, views the shop as nothing but a burden and a waste of his time. After selling the shop to a local loan shark, Calvin slowly begins to see his father’s vision and legacy and struggles with the notion that he just sold it out. (google)
3. Johnson Family Vacation (2004)
Description: Separated from his beautiful wife (Vanessa L. Williams), Nate Johnson (Cedric the Entertainer) wants to make amends with her and spend time with his kids, finding the perfect chance for bonding in a cross-country trip to a family reunion. Convincing them all to join in on the journey, Nate takes the Johnson clan on a trek from California to Missouri, but they encounter various strange situations and eccentrics along the way, including a quirky hitchhiker (Shannon Elizabeth). Girl! I seen all those movies except Girls Trip! lol! I can never get enough of Ice Cube movies he is so funny. I think his movies are particularly wonderful because he doesn’t give his cast scripts, he gives scenarios and lets them act it out and just films it. Brilliant! No wonder why his movies seem so relatable.
