I know my bloggers out there have seen many assumptions throughout their time as a blogger. Whether it’s your family, friends, or random strangers on the internet, people think they know what blogging entails or have their own assumptions about it. Today, I’m going to discuss four assumptions that either I’ve seen/ heard, or I feel like people probably assume about bloggers. Let me know in the comments if you’ve been told any of these or if you’re not a blogger and you’ve thought any of these!
1. Blogging is EASY
I feel like this is the universal statement for anyone who’s NOT a blogger. “Blogging is so easy! I could do that!” *insert eyeroll emoji*. Well my friend, you are wrong. Blogging is not easy whatsoever. It actually can be a lot of work and takes a lot of dedication if you plan on keeping it up. Just like a lot of things, it’s really easy to just slip and suddenly you realize you haven’t even been on your blog, let alone made a blog post for months or even years! If you think it’s easy, then by all means…give it a try! If you aren’t able to keep it up, then you’ll realize how it’s not so easy and if you keep it going, then you just might’ve found a passion you never knew you had.
2. Blogging Isn’t A REAL Job
I think this one is also a very well known statement that bloggers might hear a lot. I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology so I’m sure people expect me to be working in an office or maybe even trying to get a Doctorates or something…anything in that line of field. Well, if or when people hear I’m a blogger or pursuing to become a full-time blogger instead, I’m sure there are many questions in their heads and there are looks of “Oh…ok..” On the outside looking in, blogging may seem like a hobby and not a job, but it IS a job! Some may just blog for a hobby, but you can become a full time blogger as a career. Just look at all of these bloggers killing it working for themselves! You can get paid like a job and you CERTAINLY have to put in the work and the hours like one. The only difference is, you’re working for yourself and in this day and age, entrepreneurship isn’t too far from the norm.
3. Bloggers Get to Rest ANYTIME They Want
I can’t say this is completely far from the truth, but at the same time, it’s also an assumption because that’s not true for every blogger. To be successful or at least to help you stay on track, you should have some type of schedule. Of course, rest is needed but that’s for anyone. If there are things that need to get done, then they have to get done! Setting up a schedule or certain times to get things accomplished can help so that way bloggers are getting their to-do list checked off, and afterward can have the rest of the time to themselves. It’s also important to note that some bloggers are also stay-at-home parents. If you add kids in the mix, then that makes it even harder to be able to just rest any time of the day!
4. Bloggers JUST SIT and TYPE Up Posts
Last but not least, this might be one of the annoying ones for me to see. I think throughout this post, you’ve learned that blogging takes work, so I don’t think I have to reiterate that. I do, however, want to point out that it takes a lot behind the scenes. Bloggers for sure don’t just type up a post and then hit publish. Oh nooo…I wish! If you’re someone who likes to make rough drafts then you have to do that, get your photos together which includes the ones you’re going to use to advertise(i.e. featured image, Pinterest image, etc.), you have to schedule your socials for when the post goes up, and just so much more. I didn’t even get into making sure your draft is good to go before publishing or scheduling and some bloggers make multiple drafts. So, it’s not just a “sit and type” kind of thing whatsoever!
If you’re someone that read these and had any of these assumptions, then I hope I was able to show different and you have a newfound appreciation for bloggers!
Remember to let me know in the comments if you’ve ever seen or heard any of these assumptions or even let me know an assumption you’ve heard that I didn’t cover!

Nothing about blogging is easy. Since I just got over a bout of writer’s block, I can tell you inspiration does not come in rivers. Writing a good post takes time! 🙂
It definitely does! I swear these days it feels like I’m going through writers block like once a week. Thanks for reading and commenting ♥

This is so very true. I struggle with my traffic still, 3 years later. Lol. I actually went viral on Pinterest once. It was the best feeling❤️ That’s why some don’t succeed, my blog started as a passion of mine. Trust me it takes years and years to actually make an income. Or I’m doing something wrong. Xoxo
I bet it was! I hope to go viral on pinterest one day. You have to work hard to make an income and people don’t see that. I’m working hard to make an income myself. Thanks for reading and commenting ♥
Love this cause it’s so true. Even though I’m still relatively new to blogging, I definitely would not say it’s easy. It takes hard work, dedication and much much more.
100% But people don’t see those things because they’re behind the scenes. Thanks for reading and commenting ♥

Blogging has been one of the hardest jobs at times, and I’m a registered nurse lol
wow that says a lot! lol. You can definitely attest to the struggle then lol. Thanks for reading and commenting ♥
Before I started blogging I for sure thought some of these things. There is a lot of work that goes into these things. Some people just don’t realize that.
And they won’t realize until they start blogging or see all the things someone who does blog goes through. Thanks for reading and commenting love ♥

Blogging is new to me but I love it more and more and everyday ☺ love your post
Welcome to the community! It’s honestly so amazing and a great release too. Glad you enjoyed my post and thanks for commenting ♥
Everything you have mentioned here is so true! Blogging takes a lot of time, dedication and commitment! There is so much we do behind the scenes and it can be non-stop! It is frustrating when people who don’t blog make assumptions about what we do. We work really hard everyday, although it is all worth it in the end. Fab post, thanks for sharing your thoughts! <3 xx

And if we do stop, sometimes it’s almost like this sense of feeling behind on work or like you’re missing an opportunity to get a step ahead. It is 100% worth it in the end. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading and commenting ♥
This is all SO TRUE! I got #3 a lot when I tell people I work from home: “oh, so you can just work in your PJs all day? Lucky!” Um, no. If I did that, I’d never get anything done! And even if you’re just blogging as a hobby, it’s still a lot of hard work! You’re right, so much more goes into it than people realize! I’m amazed (and jealous) of bloggers who can turn their blogs into their own careers and they did that by working even harder than some people do at their regular jobs!

That is so true! I make it a habit to do SOMETHING every day because it’s hard work to turn blogging into your career. Just another thing that’s unappreciated smh. But thanks for reading girl! ♥
