To Shave Or Not To Shave During Summer

*Sponsored by Venus* No, not really, but how cool would that be right!?

So, I don’t think this is the typical blog post people usually write about, but at the same time, I don’t think it’s a topic that’s really hard to discuss. Why might you add? Well, if you haven’t learned by my post on abortion laws, I feel everyone should mind their own business. People can do what they want with their bodies (as long as they’re not harming themselves).

Well, that’s it. That’s the whole post. The End.

Ok, not really. I mean, it should be that simple but people don’t typically like simple. I feel like this can be a great debate in general (how crazy is that). Some people may have read my title and said “shave, duh” while others might have said, “clearly you should keep your body hair as it was intended to be there.” While there are the ones that might’ve had a third opinion and instead said “waxing all the way.” It honestly doesn’t matter which one you choose because…again…it’s your body. There’s no right or wrong way to go about it.

Ok, you caught me, this post technically has nothing to do with which is better.

So, what is this post about? It’s more so about people choosing what they want to choose, but getting ridiculed for it. I personally prefer to shave (eventually plan to switch to waxing) because it just makes me feel good, but sometimes I don’t feel like shaving. Does that make me gross or weird when I don’t? Spoiler alert…uh Nah. And the same goes for the people who choose not to shave or wax at all. You don’t have to wait until No Shave November just to keep the hair on your body. There’s nothing wrong with rocking that body hair all summer long if that’s what makes you comfortable. I feel women especially feel pressured to shave, and I think it’s wrong. Women can do what they please and it should be without hesitation because of judgemental men (and even other women).

It’s not about anyone else’s preference but your own. The great debate on to shave or not to shave really isn’t a debate at all. It’s just a preference. It’s a choice and whatever that choice is, like many choices we make with our bodies, should be respected. Simply because it’s ours.

  1. Too true! I’m the same as you – I love the feel of shaved legs (especially when under the covers on a warm summer night, nothing beats that feeling) but I just can’t be bothered sometimes so I’ve learnt to be happy with hairy legs as well as smooth! Although I do sometimes worry about what people think I’m getting better with it over time. I think people should just do what they want to do – neither shaved nor unshaved legs should be considered offensive so whatever they do is up to them, really. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. exactly! like i went swimming with my friends and i was going to shave but i just didn’t feel like it so i didn’t. I gotta learn myself not to worry about what people think when it comes to whether or not my legs are shaved. Thanks for reading and commenting โ™ฅ

    1. yaas same! lol. Like if i don’t feel like it for a little while then I wont, but after a while i’m like “ok, yea I don’t like this” and when I shave my skin feels so good and smooth and I just want people to touch my legs lol

  2. This is so true! Itโ€™s really our personal choice. The expectation to shave your hair is a way of policing womenโ€™s bodies. We should do things based on what makes us feel good. Thanks for this reminder โ˜บ๏ธ
