10 Things To Be Grateful For This Year

As we are in the season of gratefulness, it’s time to remember everything you have in life to be grateful for. It’s important to remember that practicing gratitude shouldn’t wait until the end of the year. It should be practiced daily, but life happens and we often forget.

I’ve written my own personal list of things I’m grateful for this year, but it’s also a list that others can use as well. If you’d like to see what I’m grateful for this year as well as look for inspiration to create your own, keep reading below!

1. Family

Family is essential and, unfortunately, not everyone has theirs. Some don’t have their family due to them falling out. Not everyone gets along, including family, and some things cause you to part ways. Meanwhile, others have lost their family due to death. There has been a lot of death this year and it’s so sad to see. This makes me even more grateful to have many family members around me, including my grandparents. As everyone around you ages, having those members in your life makes it even more special.

2. Close friends

I’ve always been grateful for my friends, but this year has taught me to be even more grateful. Even when we don’t hang out as often, just a little laughter through text is enough to get you through sometimes. It can be hard to form friendships as you get older and I’m grateful to say I still have the same group of friends since childhood. Once you find your circle, keep them close.

3. Life

As stated earlier, there have been a lot of deaths this year. This is so for other family members, but also people themselves. One thing that 2020 should have taught us is to never take life for granted. There were so many lives taken and to have made it to see the end of 2024 is a blessing in itself!

4. A job

Those caught up with my blogs or podcast, know I recently started a new job. It’s not something I wanted to do, however, content creation isn’t financially providing at the moment. Though I didn’t want to apply and start back to square one, I am grateful for having consistent funds until content creation becomes that source. I can provide my family with Christmas gifts because of this job and I’m grateful for that.

5. Content Creator Community

I may not have been the most active on my socials or in the community this year, but I’m still so grateful for the community as a whole. I appreciate all of the support they provide as well as the inspiration I receive from them.

6. Social Media

Social media is a blessing and a curse. However, I’m grateful for the distraction it provides for me. A lot is happening within my family plus my job is very tiring. Social media causes me to slip into another place where I don’t have to think and I can laugh while enjoying content. As a content creator, providing content for others to enjoy is important, but it’s important to have content to enjoy as a consumer myself. I only wish social media wasn’t as toxic, but we must take one step at a time.

7. Understanding

The ability to have understanding is truly a gift. I’m grateful for my ability to understand because not everyone has that ability. I can see both points of view, which is important in different situations. On the other hand, I’m especially grateful for others’ understanding. I have not been the most present this year and I go through a lot of anxiety, so sometimes understanding is needed. I appreciate and am so grateful for those who have taken the time to understand and be patient with me this year.

8. Music

Music has its separate language and it’s a beautiful one. There is a song or genre for any and every mood you’re feeling. Music has had a special place in my heart ever since I was a child and that remains true today. It has gotten me through dark times by helping me lift my spirits and also helping me cry through some of those dark moments. Life wouldn’t be the same without it, and I’m grateful for such beautiful sounds every day.

9. Beautiful Days

There is nothing like a beautiful sunny day! I love having my blinds open while the sun shines inside of my room. While some prefer their rooms to be dark, I need light. It not only makes me happy but I feel more productive. I mentioned social media earlier, but logging out and enjoying the sun is also important.

10. My Body

Lastly, I’m so grateful for my body and all it has done for me. I, like many others, don’t take the best care of myself like I should which is what makes me even more grateful. Despite putting it through a lot, it has still pushed through to where I’m seeing thirty in two months! As stated, plenty of people have passed away these past four years and I could’ve been one of those people. However, my body is still pushing and that’s all I could ever ask for!

There are more than ten things to be grateful for, but this was just a quick list. I hope this list inspires you to create a list of your own. There’s so much to be grateful for this year and it’s important to remind yourself every once in a while of those things.
