10 Inexpensive Ways To Enjoy The Summer

One of the most disheartening things is wanting to enjoy the summer but seeing how prices are rising and not knowing if you’ll be able to afford anything. However, the good news is that not everything is unaffordable!

I know that it may seem impossible to find activities this summer that won’t make your wallet cry in despair, but I’ve found a few things that will allow you to still make memories without breaking the bank. If you’re looking to find inexpensive ways to have fun this summer, keep reading for ideas!

1. Water balloon fight

Whether you have a child or not, water balloon fights are a fun and inexpensive way to cool down from the summer heat! All you need are cheap balloons, water, and a group of people who are ready to get wet!

2. Movie night at home

With technology growing more than ever, you no longer have to worry about leaving the comfort of your home for movie night. Instead, there are two different ways you can watch a movie from the comfort of your own home! The first way is to watch it outside under the stars with a projector. If you don’t have a projector, this option could become the least inexpensive, but it would be great in the long run because you can use it continuously. The second way is to watch movies indoors. If it’s still too hot outside, even at night, take the movie night indoors as you watch from the comfort of your couch.

3. Paint and sip

A paint and sip outdoors is a great way to enjoy the summer as an adult. If you’ve never heard of paint and sip, it’s where adults paint while drinking adult beverages (often wine). Sometimes going to a paint and sip can be a little bit pricey. If it’s inexpensive where you live, I suggest going and giving it a try! However, why not make one of your own!? You can grab some inexpensive paints, paper, cheap wine, and take the fun outdoors as you let the beauty of summer inspire you!

4. Blow bubbles

Another favorite to do whether you have children or not, blowing bubbles will never go out of style! You can easily grab a bubble wand from anywhere or, if you’d like to amp it up, grab a bubble machine and let the fun begin!

5. Go to the beach

Some of us are lucky enough to have a beach available right around the corner! If you’re one of those people, don’t let the opportunity go to waste and enjoy the beautiful beach! You can go with friends and family, or by yourself with music and a good book. Regardless of who you bring along, enjoy the peaceful sounds of the shore this summer!

6. Outdoor concert

With the weather being so nice, outdoor concerts are happening now more than ever. Concerts can be a bit pricey, but you never know what you can find if you look! Take the time to see if your city is hosting any free or low-priced concerts and go have fun! There is nothing more memorable than dancing under the stars.

7. Throw a BBQ

This one is a huge favorite for getting your family and friends together! You can throw a BBQ in your backyard or at a park while having a great time full of laughs and togetherness. Food can be a bit pricey, so I suggest allowing others to pitch in and bring products of their own! This can include food, drinks, or even games.

8. Drive-in movie

Earlier I said you could have a movie night at home, but if you rather get out and about, why not try a drive-in movie? Drive-ins allow you to enjoy a movie under the stars from the comfort of your own car! There is nothing better than laying back with a blanket and snacks without having to worry about someone kicking your seat or not being able to put your feet up.

9. Shaved ice date

Shaved iced is a delicious way to cool down from this summer heat! They are not only delicious but very inexpensive to get. You can even take things a step further and make your own at home! Also, don’t t let the word “date” make you think that you need to go with a partner. You can go on shaved ice dates with your friends or even family!

10. Stargaze

Lastly, there is nothing more inexpensive or beautiful than going outside, sitting in a chair or laying on a blanket, and watching the stars from above. Sometimes the best things in life are completely free and stargazing proves that alone.

This list proves that some of the most inexpensive or even free activities can still be tons of fun! If you’re looking for even more things to add to your list, I also made a list including five cheap ways to enjoy the nice weather.

Would you do any of the activities on this list? If not, what would you add?
